The Stages of Playing an Escape Room

What stages will you go through while playing the Escape Room Games? Probably quite a few, however, it’s not necessary to see them as a disadvantage, but rather as an advantage. After all, go in there feeling nothing and you may as well not bother. We want you to have the time of your life and going through those different stages of response will help you to enjoy yourself, engage with others, and finally win the game.

The Fear

Don’t see fear as a negative. Ever heard of fight or flight? It’ll get your adrenaline going, and your need to play to win will kick in before you run. You may be scared of making a fool of yourself, but really to be honest you won’t care about that once you start playing.

The Confusion

Yes, it can all seem confusing at first. The rules, the clues, the room and its surroundings, where do I start, where do I begin? But don’t worry, once you’ve calmed down and sorted yourselves out, you’ll soon feel less confused. Just make sure you bring an excellent delegator with you who can lead you and give you all something to do. You’ll be focused on the task ahead and have no time for confusion, so just bring your best A game and focus.

Stubbornness

Stubbornness is an excellent character trait to bring to the game. By being stubborn, you’ll stick with it to the very end. Don’t worry about looking like a geek or hacking somebody off if you are somewhat well known for being stubborn. This stubborn streak could win you the game – just follow the rules and play to win.

Frustration

Yes, you’ll be feeling frustrated because perhaps at whatever stage of the game you’re at, you’ve not found any clues, or you’ve only found a couple and time is almost up. Do not fear. That frustration needs to be channelled into determination and stubbornness, you will win out, just believe.

Excitement

There’s a stage at which you’ll get really excited. This is because you’re starting to find clues and you realise thankfully, that you’re within the time. You’re bound to win right?

Rising panic

Actually, no you’re into panic mode now. What happens if you lose? Why is it that in these closing 10 minutes you’ve found nothing but fresh air and you’re dreading the idea of losing. Yes, you lose, and they’ll all blame you right? You’ll lose face, life will never be the same again…...calm down.

Breakthrough

Yes! You’re on the cusp of winning, you found all the clues and before the clock ran out! You’re a winner, you’re a survivor, you’re king or queen of the mountain. Celebrate your breakthrough win later – or was it a breakthrough followed by a lose? Don’t worry, this is not a failure, it’s a setback – and there’s always next time, and we love to see our game players for a second, third or even fourth visit.

So get in touch, book a room and get your game face on and we’ll see you down here at Escape Colchester, the Escape Game that you won’t forget.
